I travel a lot for business, and what I miss the most are my kids.
The window seat and wall are actually just two toruses, one deep but thin and one broad but shallow. The starfield and nebula are procedural -- it took me a while to get it right, but I liked the results.
Looking back, this is one of my favorite images of all time. Even though I can look at it and see several technical flaws that I'd love to go back and correct, I just can't bring myself to tinker with this sweet image.

Just having a little fun while waiting for a big render to complete on another system.
Note, while I never did this as a print, I did put it on a shirt over at my Cafe Press store.

We usually talk about guardian angels in peaceful terms. They’re the ones that pull our children back from the busy street or watch over us in a storm. They act in silence, unobserved, easily dismissed as chance. Then sometimes... sometimes I think of them as fierce protectors, ready to unleash a terrible fury on those who would threaten their charges. It’s probably just something we tell our kids, but do you want to take the risk of crossing the wrong Guardian?
This is one of the two or three image ideas rattling around in my head that got me to finally stop pining away and actually create something. Enjoy.
Note: I was never quite satisfied with the background in these piece. I wanted something a bleaker, and I wanted more of a "rays of heavenly light" effect for the halo. My skills have now advanced to the point where I can address those, and I do plan on coming back to this piece in the future. I have promised the first print of it to a good friend and her daughter.

On Memorial Day for the last few years, I've been going to a regional event called Flipside. It's a smaller version of the Burning Man event that takes place in Nevada over Labor Day. There's a lot of fire to play with, and thanks to the nearby creek, plenty of water to cool off in. This one is a tribute to some of the amazing women I've met there.
While I don't sell this as a print, I did print it as a medium-sized banner that I often hang near my camp at festival events.
