Two Sides Imaging

Another nude study. Sorry for the long silence/absence. I've had the cold that would not quit.

I don't know if I'm actually going to do a series of these or not, but I got the idea from a calendar. It was done by one of my favorite political cartoonists, and it featured one of his sexy female characters posing with firearms. I don't know if there will ever be a #2, let alone 3 through 12, but you never know.

I've been working up another piece that's been more of a challenge, especially in achieving the postwork effect I'm after. That has been slow going, so I thought I'd knock out a few simple ones as a break.

Ok, maybe it will be a series after all.

This is perhaps my first attempt at a smoke effect. I'm not quite satisfied with it. Looking back, I think I'd want the light/dark contrast to be greater.

I'm also using the IBL to a greater extent. Usually I just do a dim (20%) white IBL light, i.e. pure white, no image at all. This one actually uses an constructed image to make all the ambient light come from mostly one direction.

I did this in response to some lighting questions I got over at Renderosity. It's likely too-much-information for the non-rendering audience, but I thought I'd share it anyway, just to give you a better feel for what my process is like.
